Tuesday at Duke Divinity // "The End of Words" Artists Reception and Open House

Everyone is welcome to attend the Artists Reception and Open House this Tuesday at Duke Divinity School to celebrate the artists whose work which has made the 2010 exhibit The End of Words an overwhelming success! There will be live musical and spoken word performances as well as plenty of yummy free food - so come on out! (You know you need a study break, anyway!)

Artists’ Reception and Open House

Celebration for contributors to Divinity School’s “The End of Words” juried arts exhibit April 13

A celebration will be held April 13 for the artists and their art in the Duke Divinity School 2010 Juried Art Exhibit, “The End of Words,” on display through May 2 at the school.

The 5 -7 p.m. celebration on the school terrace will feature food, live music, and a short program to honor the artists, who are students, staff, alumni, and their immediate family members. The rain location is the York Room in the Divinity School library.

There will be performances at the free celebration by The Rockumentary Hypothesis comprised of third-year students Tyler Atkinson, Matthew Nickoloff, and Jim Morgan; the Divinity Gospel Choir; first-year student Sarah Howell; first-year students Lindsay Long, Elizabeth Eichling, and Samuel Gunter; and second-year student Darriel Harris. In addition, there will be jewelry for sale designed and hand-crafted by third-year student Everdith Landrau.

The sponsors of the celebration and reception are: the New Creation Arts Group, Fred and Jami Moss Wise (director of development for the Divinity School), Center for Reconciliation, Academic Affairs Office, Office of the Dean, Office of Student Life and Formation, Professor Jeremy Begbie and the Duke Initiatives in Theology and the Arts, Divinity Arts Committee, Divinity Student Council, Office of Field Education, and Office of Admissions
